Orville “Gene” Hoover, age 78, 739 Hitzfield Street, Huntington, died at 1:12 a.m. Friday (January 4, 2008) at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

     Mr. Hoover retired in 1993 from Zollner’s Piston in Fort Wayne after 28 years of service.  He was a lifetime resident of Huntington.

     Gene was born on June 27, 1929 in Huntington the son of Orville Glen and Florence (Williams) Hoover.  He married Dorothy Schaffer on March 4, 1950 in Huntington.

     Survivors include his wife of 57 years – Dorothy Hoover of Huntington; two sons – David G. (Brenda) Hoover of Huntington and William A. (Joyce) Hoover of Yoder, IN; one daughter – Susan (Thomas) Mullis of Huntington; two brothers – Jack Hoover of Huntington and Carl Hoover of Alabama; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.  A son – James Spath, a brother – Jerry Hoover, and a sister – June Howard, preceded him in death.

     Visitation will be 3 – 7 p.m. Sunday (January 6, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday (January 7, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Russell Buzzard officiating.  Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
