Obituaries

     Nelson E. Lauer, age 56, 10616 North 800 East, N. Manchester, IN, died at 5:00 a.m., Thursday (March 24, 2005) at his home.

     Mr. Lauer was a lifetime Chester Township, Wabash County, farmer.  He also sold seed for Beck’s Seed Corn which is in Atlanta, IN.  Mr. Lauer graduated from Huntington North High School, in 1967, and was a United States Marine Corp. veteran.

     Mr. Lauer was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ Church, Bippus, IN. He was a volunteer for the Bippus Volunteer Fire Department.

     Mr. Lauer was born in Wells County on February 20, 1949, the son of Paul E. and Martha J. (Lesh) Lauer.  He married Judy K. Farthing on November 2, 1968 in Bippus.     

     Survivors include his wife of 36 years – Judy K. Lauer of North Manchester; his parents – Paul E. & Martha J. Lauer of Huntington; 1 son – Chad E. (Tina) Lauer of North Manchester; 2 daughters – Mrs. Scott (Julie) Cave of North Manchester and Mrs. Michael (Jamie) Schroll of North Manchester; 2 brothers – Alan Lauer of North Manchester and Roger Lauer of Florida; 1 sister – Mrs. Wally (Paula) Johnson of Peru, IN and 3 grandchildren.

     Visitation will be 2-8 pm Monday (March 28, 2005) at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be 10 am Tuesday (March 29, 2005) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Ed Inderlied officiating.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia, IN, with military graveside services being conducted by the V. F. W. Post #2689.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Nelson Lauer, may be made to the Nelson Lauer Family or to the St. John’s United Church of Christ in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN  46750.
