Mary Elizabeth Shaffer, age 80, 4213 North 580 West, Huntington, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday (December 3, 2006) at her daughter’s home.

     Mrs. Shaffer was a homemaker and worked part time for The Tab newspaper for 14 years.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Huntington. A resident of Huntington for most of her life, Mary graduated from Wabash High School in 1945.

     Mrs. Shaffer was born on February 24, 1926 in Wabash, IN, the daughter of Oliver Raymond and Mary A. (Hodson) Brown. She married C. Eugene Shaffer on September 8, 1945.  He preceded her in death on February 14, 1993.

     Survivors include her daughter – Bonnie (James) Jones of Huntington; a brother – Orville Brown of Bluffton, IN; a sister – Nora Fearnow of Wabash, IN.  A brother, John C. Brown, and two sisters, Helen Mendenhall and Dorothy Beaver, preceded her in death.

     Visitation will be 3 – 7 p.m. Tuesday (December 5, 2006) at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday (December 6, 2006), at Bailey-Love Mortuary with John Ritchie and Russell Buzzard officiating.  Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
