Obituaries

     Martha Jane Lauer, age 84, North Manchester, died at 1:35 p.m. Saturday (August 23, 2008) at the Heritage of Huntington.

     Mrs. Lauer was a homemaker and worked with her husband Paul on their Warren Township Farm. She also worked as a bookkeeper for the Wells County Hospital for 6 years and the Lauer Farm Center in Roann.

     She was a member of the St. John’s Church in Bippus, the Women’s Fellowship of the church, Wells County Rural Youth, a 55-year member of the Warren Township Home Demonstration Club and was a 4-H leader for many years.

     Martha Jane was born June 2, 1924 in Wells County, the daughter of Ernest and Ethel Lesh. She was a 1942 graduate of East Rock Creek High School. She married Paul Edward Lauer on February 15, 1948 in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wells County.

     Survivors include her husband of 60 years – Paul E. Lauer of N. Manchester, one daughter - Paula (Wally) Johnson of Peru, IN; two sons – Alan (Trish) Lauer of North Manchester and Roger (Lisa) Lauer of Roanoke; a daughter-in-law - Judy Lauer of North Manchester; two sisters - Maxine (Charles, Jr.) Goebel of Huntington and Betty Lou Dunwiddie of Bluffton, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  A son, Nelson Lauer, preceded her in death.

     Visitation will be 2 - 7 p.m. Tuesday (August 26, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday (August 27, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Reverend Norm Conklin and Reverend Larry Holterbaum officiating. Burial will be in the St. John’s Cemetery, Bippus, IN.

     Memorial contributions may be made to Bippus Lions Club or to the Huntington County 4-H Fair in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN  46750.
