Marjorie H. Buzzard Machmer, 1421 South Jefferson Street, Huntington, died Monday (January 22, 2007) at her home.

     Mrs. Machmer was the former owner of Marjorie’s Income Tax Service working out of her home for over 25 years, retiring in 1994.  Marjorie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Moose Ladies Lodge, American Legion Post #7, V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #2689 all in Huntington where she was active in the local, district and state in the auxiliary, having served as past president, three times. She held offices of the 5^th district and served as president in 1952-1953.  She also held offices in the State of Indiana  in the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary from 1969-1970. She was “runner up” with the National V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary for outstanding Leadership from 1969-1970.  She recently served as State Chief of Staff and as the State Assistant Treasurer.

     Mrs. Machmer was born February 10, 1920 in Rock Creek Township in Huntington County the daughter of John P. and Calverna Nelson Hayes. She was a lifetime resident of Huntington County. Her first marriage was to Chester Buzzard on April 27, 1940 in Huntington and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1970.  Her second marriage was to William H. Machmer on February 4, 1972 in Huntington and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1993.

     Survivors include her son – James N. (Nancy) Buzzard of Huntington, one brother – William T. Hayes of Ft. Wayne, two grandchildren Amy Buzzard of Warren, Benjamin Buzzard of Columbia, South Carolina, and one great granddaughter Madison Karst of Warren.  Two sisters Freela Webster and Estella Freed preceded her in death.

     No visitation.

     Private family funeral services will be held at the Bailey-Love Mortuary on Friday (January 26, 2007) with Russell Buzzard  officiating. Burial will be in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.
