Lyle C. Crider, age 87, 1332 Memorial Lane, Huntington, died at 7:03 p.m. Thursday (December 27, 2007) at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

     Mr. Crider retired in 1978 as a construction engineer.  He supervised the construction of the Huntington Sewage Plant and the Cumberland, Indiana Sewage Plant.  Lyle was self-employed in plumbing and heating.  He was a member of the Northview Church of Christ in Huntington and founder of the Cumberland Christian Church in Cumberland, IN.  Lyle was a member of the Cumberland Masonic Lodge, Lions Club and the Indianapolis Scottish Rite and Shriner’s.  He bowled on several bowling leagues.

     Lyle was born on October 1, 1920 in Greenfield, IN the son of Arthur Peter and Cora Ethel (Richey) Crider.  He graduated in 1938 from Tech High School in Indianapolis, IN and served with the United States Navy during WW II.  His first marriage was to Jeanette Ottinger in June of 1944 and she passed away on Feb 7, 1976.  He then married Ethel M. Raymer on November 4, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

     Survivors include his wife – Ethel M. Crider of Huntington, one son – Jack Arthur Crider of Salt Lake City, Utah, one daughter – Jo Ann (Gary) Whittington of Cumberland, IN, two stepsons – Rocky (Marie) Breeding of Andrews, IN and Jeffrey (Carol) Breeding of Andrews, IN, two stepdaughters – Kelly Breeding of Huntington and Toni Hendricks of Huntington, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.  A brother, Kenneth Crider, preceded him in death.

     Visitation will be 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday (December 30, 2007) at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday (December 31, 2007) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Del Hamon officiating.  Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery with the V.F.W. Post #2689 performing military graveside services.
