Obituaries

     Louise B. Earhart, age 103, formerly of West Tipton Street, Huntington and Lutheran Homes in Fort Wayne, died at 10:29 pm on Wednesday (January 23, 2008) at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

     Mrs. Earhart was a homemaker and abstracter for Jones Abstract in Huntington for 25 years.  She also was the secretary for the former Huntington County Sheriff Dale Rudicel.  She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church Child Welfare Club, Women’s Club, Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority and the Huntington Garden Club all of Huntington. She also served on the Salvation Army Board.  Louise was a very creative and artistic person and loved to paint.

     Louise was born on September 15, 1904 in Huntington County, the daughter of William F. and Lucy (Poehler) Peting.  She graduated from Huntington High School and the Huntington Business College.  Louise married S. Raymond Earhart on September 9, 1928 at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Huntington.  He preceded her in death in June of 1984.

     Survivors include two daughters – Shirley (Richard) Mann of Huntington and Anne (Gary A.) Glenn-White of Chadron, Nebraska; two sisters – Gertrude Goebel of Andrews, IN and Minnie M. Nida of Portland, Oregon; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.  A brother, Adolph Peting, and two sisters, Martha Anderson and Pauline Bryan, preceded her in death.

     Visitation will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Friday (February 1, 2008) at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 648 North La Fontaine Street, Huntington.  Funeral services will be at 12 p.m. Friday (February 1, 2008) at the church with Reverend Dr. Richard Lofgren officiating.  Private burial will be at a later date in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Y.M.C.A. or to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive Huntington, IN.
