Obituaries

     John Nelson Sutton, 83, 300 Crown Hill Drive, Huntington, died at 3:10 a.m. Sunday (March 23, 2008) at the Oakbrook Village.

     Mr. Sutton was a dearly loved father, grandfather and a life long member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntington.  John retired from the Fisher Body Plant, in Marion, where he worked for over 30 years.  He was a third class radar man with the Navy during W.W. II serving on the USS Cascade. John enjoyed his log cabin, the dream home that took him 7 years to create.  He also enjoyed rebuilding wrecked cars.

     John was born June 5, 1924 in Huntington the son of William G. and Cecelia (Daugherty) Sutton. He married Betty Marjorie (Votruba) Sutton on August 7, 1946 at the Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak, Michigan.  She preceded him in death on February 26, 2008.

     Survivors include eight daughters – Sherie (Mark) Pyle of  Ft. Wayne, Vicki (Jim) Irick of Harlan, Sheila Sutton of South Whitley, Vivian (Dave) Brosamer of South Whitley, Lynn Sutton of Andrews, Julie (Dan) Sunderman of Marshall, MI, Susi (Dan) Williams of Dayton, OH, and Barbi (Doug) Stephan of North Manchester; nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.  Two brothers – Donald Sutton and Bernard Sutton, and two sisters – Helen Gies and Marie Quamie, preceded him in death.

     A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday (March 27, 2008) with visitation one hour prior at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 903 N. Jefferson St. Huntington with Father John Pfister officiating.

     Memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN  46750.
