James D. Kochenspager, age 75, 1405 Garfield Street, Huntington, died at 2:29 p.m. Thursday (January 3, 2008) at his home.

     Mr. Kochenspager was a lifetime resident of Huntington and worked at several area factories.  He was a member of the New Hope United Brethren in Christ Church in Huntington where he held many positions within the church.  James was a member of Promise Keepers and a past Scout Master in Huntington.

     James was born on July 22, 1932 in Graitot County, Michigan, the son of Rev. Stuart and E. Treva (Powell) Kochenspager.  He graduated from Carson City, Michigan High School in 1951.   James married Loisann Ware on November 21, 1953 in Huntington.

     Survivors include his wife of 54 years – Loisann Kochensparger of Huntington, four sons – John (Susan) Kochensparger of Ashland, Virginia, David (Jeena) Kochensparger of Myrtle Point, Oregan, Dan (Dee) Kochensparger of Andrews, IN and Joel Kochensparger of Huntington; one brother – Max Kochensparger of Paulding, Ohio; one sister – Edith Morehouse of Rockport, Texas; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.   A son – Paul Kochensparger, brothers – Royce Kochensparger and Merle Kochensparger and a sister – Ruth Kochensparger, preceded him in death.

     A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (January 12, 2008) at New Hope United Brethren in Christ Church, 2001 Engle Street, Huntington, with visitation prior to the service at 10 a.m. Rev. Ray Seilhamer will officiate.  A private burial took place in the Union Cemetery, Huntington.
