Obituaries

     James Richard Jones, age 75, of Huntington, died at 1:10 am on Sunday (March 9, 2008) at the Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne.

     He was born April 21, 1932 in Fremont, Ohio, the son of Chris and Leora (Baker) Jones.  James was a graduate of Freemont-Ross High School, Freemont, Ohio, and attended Western Michigan College.  Mr. Jones was the owner of Landmark Realty in Huntington.  He retired as a Huntington Coutny realtor / appraiser / auctioneer.  James was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a First Lieutenant in the Army.  He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2689, Norwood Golf Course, past board member of the Huntington County Visitor Center, and past board member of the Huntington County Realtors. James married Bonita (Bonnie) Shaffer on September 15, 1987, in Roger City, MI.

     Survivors include his wife of 20 years –  Bonita (Bonnie) Jones of Huntington; one son – David (Terri) Jones of Goose Creek, SC; two daughters – Teri Lowe of Celina, OH, and Mrs. Dan (Lisa) Batchelder of Ft. Wayne; five grandchildren.  His parents, a daughter – Karen, and a sister preceded him in death.

     Visitation will be from 10 – 11 am Friday (March 14, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am on Friday (March 14, 2008) at Bailey-Love Mortuary with Rev. Russell Buzzard officiating.  Burial will take place at a later date in the Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.

     Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, or to the V.F.W. Post 2689 in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive Huntington, IN.
