Remembrance Video for Charles F. Pence

     Charles F. Pence, age 85, Huntington, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday morning (June 22, 2008) at the Renaissance Village in Ft. Wayne.

     Mr. Pence retired in 1982 from International Union Operating Engineers Local #103 in Ft. Wayne, where he worked from 1946 to 1982.  Charles was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #2689, American Legion Post #7, Moose Lodge #837 all in Huntington and the International Union Operating Engineers Local #103 in Ft. Wayne.  He was a lifetime resident of Huntington, and  a 1940 graduate of Huntington High School.  Charles served as a Chief Boatsman Mate with the U.S. Coast Guard during W.W.II.

     Charles was born on September 2, 1922 in Huntington, the son of Fred B. and Mildred (Anson) Pence.  Charles married Helen L. Davis on August 27, 1947 in Huntington.

     Survivors include his wife of 60 years – Helen L. Pence of Huntington; one son – Charles A. “Squeek” Pence of Warren; two daughters – Diana Stucker (James) of Markle and Jackie Towns (Gene) of Markle; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  One sister – Mary Margaret Hunnicutt preceded him in death.

     Visitation will be on Tuesday (June 24, 2008) from 2 – 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary.  Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday (June 25, 2008) at the Bailey-Love Mortuary with Pastor Russell Buzzard officiating.  Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Huntington County with the V.F.W. Post #2689 performing military graveside rites.  Memorial may be made to the V.F.W. Color Guard in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, IN  46750.
