Obituaries
Charles E. Carey, age 98, of Warren, died at 5:10 a.m. Monday (May 19, 2008) at Heritage Pointe where he lived.
Charles was the former owner of Carey’s Cold Springs Store in Lincoln, NH, co/owner of the Deer Park Drive-In Theater in North Woodstock, NH from 1954-1971 and Carey’s Little Grille also in North Woodstock from 1947-1954. Prior to living in Hew Hampshire, he owned Carey’s Café in Huntington from 1944-1946. He was a member of the Parker Lodge #97 F&AM in North Woodstock, NH, Betktash Scottish Temple in Concord, NH, and a thirty-five year member of the Elks Lodge #1831 in Littleton, NH. Charles was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion Post in Indianapolis. He was a former director of the Granite State Trust Bank in Lincoln NH for over 15 years and a member of the Ellenton United Methodist Church in Ellenton, FL.
Charles was born March 23, 1910 in Brandon, Vermont, the son of Lottie (Bell) Barkum. He was a United States Army veteran serving in WW II. Charles married Imogene I. Bechtold on March 23, 1941 in Tampa, Florida and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister-in-law – Helen J. Bechtold of Warren, IN; four step-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. His son, Charles E. Carey, Jr., preceded him in death.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday (May 21, 2008) at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, with the Rev. John Pattison officiating.
