Obituaries
Amanda Eickhoff, 97, Huntington, died Tuesday (April 26, 2005) at 6:15 p.m., at Norwood Nursing Center where
she resided.
Mrs. Eickhoff was a homemaker and farmed with her husband. In later years, she worked at the former Bechstein’s Grocery. A lifelong resident of Huntington, she was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and a volunteer at Huntington Hospital.
She was born January 13, 1908, in Huntington, a daughter of William and Meta (Brandt) Sundermann. She attended Huntington Township High School and Huntington High School. On February 5, 1927, she married Henry Eickhoff and he preceded her in death on February 5, 1967.
Survivors include a son – George (Barba) Eickhoff of Huntington, a daughter – Mrs. Robert Joe (Anita) Prout of Huntington, 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A son and the twin brother of George, Frederick Eickhoff, died shortly after birth. Her brother, Herman Sunderman, and sister, Marie Harrell, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday (April 29, 2005) at Bailey-Love Mortuary. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday (April 30, 2005) at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 648 North LaFontaine Street., Huntington, with 1 hour of visitation prior to the service at the church. Rev. Dr. Richard Lofgren will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Huntington.
